It takes money to make money. Certainly, this statement is true. Many small business owners however do not have an endless line of credit to apply towards their marketing plans. So what to do? Luckily, creativity and energy does not cost a penny. Implementing creative ideas can be done on a shoestring. It’s a new decade and time to lace up your sneakers and bolt ahead into success.

    On you mark, get set…GO!

Network! Network! Network! Grab a hand full of business cards and get out there. Rather than sitting idle and waiting for your phone to ring, why not increase the possibilities of making something happen? If you meet five new people a day…that is thirty-five new people per week, and one hundred and forty per month. In one year you will have met one thousand six hundred and eighty new prospects!

Giveaways. You can’t afford a snazzy television commercial, but it costs next to nothing to give away freebies – and what better way to thank your existing customers for their business? Promote giveaways through no cost channels such as Facebook, and Twitter. Send coupons out via email. Old fashioned face-to-face also still works just fine.

Two heads are better then one! Knowing that other businesses face the same challenges as you do – why not approach them and cross-promote for one another? For retailers, it could be as simple as handing out one another’s flyers at the cash. For consultants, you can link one another’s websites, and even write a recommendation about the each other’s services.

Offer a free workshop. What better way to promote your company and its products and services! Restaurant owners can host a free cooking demo. Accountants can offer a free seminar on doing your taxes. Clothing boutiques can offer an evening talk on image consulting. The possibilities are endless, as is your creativity.

See you at the finish line!
